The assault on the Movida bar in Puchong, a town on the edges the capital, Kuala Lumpur, occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning, when clients were observing live screening of the Euro soccer competition.
Selangor state agent police boss Abdul Rahim Jaafar told columnists the suspected thought process was either business competition, revenge, or an objective murdering.
"We are as yet exploring who the suspects are, however the thought processes could be business contention, retribution, or one or a greater amount of the casualties could have been an objective," he said.
In a comparable assault in 2014, a man was murdered while 12 others were injured when a bomb blasted outside a bar in Kuala Lumpur.
