Winning Mega Millions ticket sold in Indiana, worth $540 million

One winning ticket was sold in Indiana in the Mega Millions lottery on Friday, gaining the big stake worth $540 million, the seventh biggest in U.S. lottery history, lottery authorities said.

The triumphant numbers - 8, 19, 20, 55, 73 with the Mega Ball 5 - were chosen at 11 p.m. EDT, were coordinated by one ticket, Mega Millions said on its site.

The Mega Millions amusement is played in 44 states, Washington, D.C. also, the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The chances of winning the big stake were one in about 259 million, as of Friday's drawing.

Offers of the $1 tickets support the weighty prize, which was worth $380 million on Friday evening if a victor picks a quick money payout rather than installments more than 30 years.

In the event that nobody makes it big on Friday, the bonanza will move to an expected $630 million for next Tuesday's drawing, which adds up to the fourth-biggest big stake in U.S. history.

Ticket deals ordinarily increment as the prize develops, lottery authorities said. The Mega Millions bonanza has been developing subsequent to early March, when a Washington state man caught $157 million with a triumphant ticket purchased in Seattle.

The present prize is the diversion's greatest since December 2013, when holders of two tickets sold in California and Georgia shared a $648 million bonanza. The biggest Mega Millions big stake, worth $656 million, was sold the earlier year.
