Gawker challenges Florida jury verdict in Hulk Hogan case
By Letitia SteinTAMPA, Fla. (Reuters) - Gawker has documented a test in Florida court to a jury's late choice to survey $140 million in harms in the wake of finding that the media site had disregarded a VIP's security rights by posting a 2012 sex tape of wrestling star Hulk Hogan.
The New York-based online outlet, which had wanted to claim, documented movements on Monday looking for another trial, or to turn around or decrease the jury's choice.
The case including a long-term star of World Wrestling Entertainment has been generally taken after for testing limits between a superstar's security rights and squeeze freedoms under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution in the advanced age.
A month ago, a six-man jury granted Hogan $60 million for passionate pain and $55 million for financial harms. The jury then slapped another $25 million in correctional harms on the organization and its distributer and CEO, Nick Denton.
"Rubberneck is currently starting the procedure of testing the jury's decision in a trial where key proof was wrongly withheld and the jury was not legitimately taught on the sacred norms for newsworthiness," Gawker said in an announcement.
Hogan sued the site for posting a one-minute, 41-second altered video cut in 2012 highlighting him having intercourse with the wife of his then closest companion, the radio stun athlete Bubba the Love Sponge Clem.

The jury discovered overwhelmingly to support him following a two-week trial in St. Petersburg, close to Hogan's home.
"We rose triumphant once and we plan to do as such once more," Hogan's lawyer, David Houston, said in an announcement. "It is clear Gawker can't acknowledge obligation regarding their activities or show any aim of amending their conduct."
